STORY
Frontier is the name Nissan's pickup wears in the Americas, mid-size now and compact for its first two decades. The badge arrived in autumn 1997 on the D22 as a 1998 model, in place of the Hardbody, and a Crew Cab followed in May 1999 as a 2000 model, which Nissan called the first compact truck sold in the United States with four full-size forward-hinged doors. For 2001 an Eaton supercharger lifted the 3.3 V6 to 210 hp. The D40 came for 2005 on the Titan's F-Alpha frame with a 265 hp 4.0 V6, and it outlived the NP300 Navara premiere of June 11, 2014: Brazil built it to September 2016, the United States and Canada through the 2021 model year. The D41, built at Canton, Mississippi since July 15, 2021, was designed for North America alone, while Mexico and South America kept selling the D23 Navara as a Frontier and China added the Frontier Pro of December 2025, the Navara Pro elsewhere.
