The Story

Why the Kix matters

The Kix was not a Nissan design. Mitsubishi supplied it under an OEM agreement, and the car underneath was the second-generation Pajero Mini, in production at Mizushima since October 1998 and facelifted in September 2008. Nissan gave it the code H59A and put it on sale on October 30, 2008 in RS and RX grades at 1,402,800 to 1,591,800 yen, with a 659 cc turbocharged four, part-time four-wheel drive worked by a transfer lever and 15-inch wheels, against a target of 300 cars a month. When Mitsubishi stopped building the Pajero Mini in June 2012 the Kix left the range that August, and Nissan later reused the Japanese name for the unrelated P15 Kicks crossover.
