STORY

The Laurel went on sale in April 1968 as the Laurel 1800, a dedicated 1800 cc model from Nissan, powered by the 1,815 cc G18, an overhead-cam four, and was pitched as a small luxury car. In 1970 Nissan added its first pillarless two-door hardtop to the range, with a 2.0-litre engine following in 1970 or 1971 depending on the source. The first generation, the C30, ended with a full model change in April 1972, after about four years on sale.
