STORY

Nissan announced the launch of the Leaf on 3 December 2010, with sales in Japan from 20 December, a 24 kWh battery and a range of 200 km on the Japanese JC08 cycle. In 2019 it added the Leaf e+ with a 62 kWh battery and a targeted EPA range of up to 226 miles, a figure Nissan gave for the S Plus only. The third generation, shown on 17 June 2025, is a crossover with 52 kWh and 75 kWh packs, and Nissan quotes up to 303 miles for select U.S. grades with the 75 kWh pack, an estimate subject to homologation.
