Nissan made a two-door coupe-cabriolet from the K12 Micra and gave the roof to Karmann. A concept had appeared at the 2002 Paris show; the production car was unveiled at Sunderland on 15 June 2005, the day the plant's four-millionth car came off the line. Karmann developed and supplied the two-piece C-VIEW hardtop, made largely of glass, and set up a small line inside NMUK to fit the roof modules, the first time, Nissan said, it had joined forces with a key supplier working inside its own facilities. The roof folded in 22 seconds. European sales opened in November 2005 with a 65 kW 1.4 or the 81 kW 1.6 new that year to the Micra 160SR. Japan bought it as an import, announced on 5 June 2007 from 2,499,000 yen with an HR16DE the home-market March never had. More than 31,000 were built over the four years it was in production. Micra assembly at Sunderland ended altogether on 16 July 2010.
