Mechanically unchanged, this was an appearance package built on the GL: a numbered dashboard plaque, a gold Z badge on the bonnet, wing wreaths, headlamp washers, a tinted T-bar roof, gold or black turbine wheels, a four-speaker audio system, air conditioning and cruise control. 3000 cars built: 2500 in black and gold with tan leather and 500 in black and red with burgundy leather; Canadian cars carried a maple leaf emblem. Output 135 hp to SAE NET.

STORY

The 280ZX (S130) arrived in 1978 as a more refined, grand-touring evolution of the Z line, trading raw sportiness for comfort and luxury features. It offered 2.8-litre inline-six power, and a turbocharged version joined the range in 1981. Despite criticism that it had grown softer, it sold strongly, particularly in the United States.
