Japanese market after the facelift of 29 October 1981. 155 PS at 5200 rpm and 23.5 kgm at 4000 rpm to JIS GROSS: compression rose from 8.3 to 8.8 with reduced friction and intake restriction. Nissan Heritage states the metric conversion verbatim as '114kW(155ps)/5200, 230N·m(23.5kgm)/4000'. Only the 2.8-litre 280Z-T grade remained, the 280Z-L having been dropped.

STORY

The 280ZX (S130) arrived in 1978 as a more refined, grand-touring evolution of the Z line, trading raw sportiness for comfort and luxury features. It offered 2.8-litre inline-six power, and a turbocharged version joined the range in 1981. Despite criticism that it had grown softer, it sold strongly, particularly in the United States.
