Fairlady Z Turbo 2.0 (L20ET)

S130 · 1982–1983RWDCoupe

Japanese market, on sale from 19 October 1982. 145 PS at 5600 rpm and 21.0 kgm at 3200 rpm to JIS GROSS, compression 7.6, ECCS management with a knock sensor. Standard 215/60R15 tyres were the first 60-series tyres in Japan. This is not the American 280ZX Turbo: that car used the 2.8-litre L28ET rated 180 hp SAE net and arrived a year earlier in 1981, the 2.8-litre turbo having failed Japanese type approval.

STORY

The 280ZX (S130) arrived in 1978 as a more refined, grand-touring evolution of the Z line, trading raw sportiness for comfort and luxury features. It offered 2.8-litre inline-six power, and a turbocharged version joined the range in 1981. Despite criticism that it had grown softer, it sold strongly, particularly in the United States.
