STORY

The NV200 is Nissan's own van, not a rebadged partner product: Nissan Shatai developed it and builds the Japanese cars at Shonan. The world premiere came at Geneva on 3 March 2009, Japan went first as the NV200 Vanette from 21 May 2009, and Europe followed in October, supplied from Japan until Barcelona took over. At launch it held 4.1 cubic metres on a 2,040 mm load bay with 771 kg of payload; by November 2011 Nissan quoted 4.2 cubic metres and up to 793 kg. New York chose it on 3 May 2011 as the Taxi of Tomorrow, the city's only taxi from late 2013, but the courts cancelled this monopoly before it took hold. North America took the NV200 Compact Cargo from Cuernavaca, and General Motors sold it as the Chevrolet City Express from 2015 to 2018. Barcelona built more than 49,000 electric e-NV200s before shutting in December 2021, and Japanese production is set to end in the 2026 business year.
