STORY
Terrano Regulus was the Japanese version of the Infiniti QX4, launched on 27 August 1996 as the model above the R50 Terrano rather than a version of it: every one had the wide 1,840 mm body and 4,670 mm of length, or 4,825 with the spare carried on the tailgate, with a choice of the 170 PS VG33E 3.3 V6 or the 150 PS QD32ETi 3.2 turbodiesel and a four-speed automatic only. The split was a sales one as much as a product one, since Nissan sold the Regulus through its Motor stores and the Terrano through Nissan stores until the February 1999 facelift put both cars in both chains and swapped the QD32ETi for the 170 PS ZD30DDTi. Two-wheel drive was dropped in September 2001, and Japanese production and selling ended in August 2002. Japanese sources trace the name to Regulus, the alpha star of Leo.
