STORY
Tiida was the name on the hatchback Nissan put on sale in Japan on 30 September 2004, with the Tiida Latio sedan following that October, and the name travelled unevenly: the United States and Canada knew the car as the Versa, Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia as the Latio, the rest of the world as the Tiida. China started with the sedan in April 2005, built at Dongfeng Nissan's Huadu plant and sold under two similar Chinese names for hatchback and sedan; North America followed in June 2006, supplied from Aguascalientes in Mexico, and Europe in June 2007. World sales passed a million in March 2008, by which point China, at 306,012 cars, had bought more of them than Japan. The second Tiida was shown in Shanghai on 19 April 2011 and sold in China from that June, badged Pulsar in Thailand and Oceania. Japanese production ended in July 2012.
