STORY

The Achieva replaced the Cutlass Calais for 1992 as Oldsmobile's compact car. It was built on GM's front-wheel-drive N-body platform, which it shared with the Buick Skylark and the Pontiac Grand Am, and was sold as a coupe and a sedan until 1998. The engines were the 2.3-litre Quad 4 and, from 1996, the 2.4-litre Twin Cam four, with a V6 as the upgrade. A sportier SCX package with the high-output Quad 4 was offered briefly. The Alero took its place for 1999.
