The Aurora was launched for 1995 as a full-size luxury sedan on GM's front-drive G platform, which it shared with the Buick Riviera. Oldsmobile used it to modernize its image. Its 4.0-litre DOHC V8 was a smaller version of the Cadillac Northstar engine. A second, smaller generation followed for 2001-2003 with a 3.5-litre V6 as well as the V8.
