The Story

Why the Omega matters

The Omega was a compact car sold from 1973 to 1984. The first generations were rear-wheel-drive X-body cars sharing the Chevrolet Nova's body, with a 250 cu in inline-six or a 350 cu in V8. In 1980 the Omega moved to GM's new front-wheel-drive X-body platform, shared with the Chevrolet Citation, using the 2.5-litre Iron Duke four and an optional 2.8-litre V6. The SX version with the 2.8-litre high-output V6 was sold from 1981.
