Opel has used the Frontera name twice. The first Frontera was an Isuzu MU adapted for Europe and assembled in England, with its world debut at the Geneva show in 1991; Britain sold it as the Vauxhall Frontera and Australia as the Holden Frontera. An updated Frontera B arrived in 1998, and the last European car was built at Luton on 23 December 2003. In May 2024 Opel unveiled a new Frontera in Istanbul, a different car: a compact crossover. The Electric has an 83 kW (113 hp) motor and a 44 kWh battery rated at up to 305 km WLTP, the Hybrid combines a 1.2-litre turbo with a 21 kW motor in 100 or 136 hp versions, and a seven-seat version followed.
Opel's tough 4x4 of the 1990s, revived in 2024 as an affordable electrified family crossover.
