The GT name sits on two unrelated cars. Opel showed the Experimental GT study at the Frankfurt show in 1965, and the production GT went on sale in 1968 as a two-seat coupe with a 1.1-litre 60 PS or 1.9-litre 90 PS four. The bodies came from French coachbuilders Chausson and Brissonneau & Lotz and were completed at Bochum; more than 103,000 were built by 1973, most of them for the United States. In 2007 the name returned on a US-built roadster that is a rebadged Saturn Sky, with a turbocharged 2.0-litre four.
Opel's sports car: the pretty 1968 Kadett-based coupe and a 2007 rear-drive roadster derived from the Saturn Sky.
