STORY

The Manta was Opel's rival to the Ford Capri. The first Manta appeared in September 1970 and nearly 500,000 were built before the Manta B replaced it in August 1975. The B was again technically an Ascona B, and it got a facelift in 1982. At the Geneva show in March 1981 Opel presented the Manta 400, a rally car homologated for Group B, which required at least 200 road cars. Production of the Manta B ended on 28 August 1988.
