The Zafira arrived in 1999 as Opel's seven-seat compact van, and the Flex7 seating was the point of the car: the rear seats folded away instead of being taken out, so the interior could change from seven seats to two without anything being removed. In 2001 Opel added a performance version, the Zafira OPC, with a turbocharged 2.0-litre engine rated at 192 PS (141 kW), a claimed 220 km/h top speed and 0-100 km/h in about 8.2 seconds. When the second-generation Zafira took over in 2005, Opel kept the Flex7 idea rather than replacing it, so the system that defined the first car carried into the next.

The Story
Why the Zafira mattersTrims · Zafira C
1 trim · 2011–2019The larger Zafira Tourer (2011-2019) added a premium 'Lounge Seating' cabin and sold alongside the outgoing B for a time. The 2019 Zafira Life is a different car, a Citroen Jumpy-based van, and is not part of this entry.
