STORY

Peugeot presented the 104 at the 1972 Paris Motor Show with an aluminium four-cylinder engine tilted 72 degrees, and a short-wheelbase three-door coupé was added to the range. The sporty ZS2 of 1979 made 93 PS DIN from the 1,360 cc engine and was limited to 1,000 cars. By 1984 the 104 had left most markets other than France, where it stayed on sale until 1988. The ordinary 1,360 cc cars gave 72 PS DIN in the French market. Over those 16 years more than 1.6 million were built in all.
