STORY

The 206 was launched in 1998. The coupé-cabriolet with a folding hard top followed in 2000. The sportiest road versions, the GTi 180 and RC, used a 2.0-litre four rated at 177 PS (175 bhp). France built the car until December 2012, the 206+ facelift appeared in 2009, and the total is put at about 10 million cars as of 2017, with plants from Mulhouse and Poissy to Argentina, Brazil and Iran; Autoweb dates the Argentine market from March 1999.
