STORY

The Peugeot 404 was a mid-size sedan launched in 1960, styled by Pininfarina. It had a robust 1.6-litre engine that later gained optional fuel injection. It was known for durability. In Africa it served for decades as a taxi and workhorse, and it won the East African Safari Rally several times. It came as a saloon, estate, coupé, cabriolet and pickup, and sold more than 2.8 million units. Production continued into the 1980s in various markets.
