STORY

Peugeot revealed the 408 in June 2022 as a fastback crossover that sits between a saloon and an SUV, built at Mulhouse on the EMP2 platform shared with the 308. It was announced with petrol and plug-in hybrid power, and L'argus read that as European sales from early 2023. Press descriptions range from SUV coupe to crossover saloon. The name already existed in China, where, L'argus said in May 2022, a separate three-box 408 saloon is sold through the Dongfeng joint venture.
