STORY

The 604 was shown at the Geneva Motor Show in March 1975 as a large Peugeot saloon with the 2.7-litre PRV V6, an engine developed jointly with Renault and Volvo. Bosch K-Jetronic injection arrived on the 604 Ti in 1977, and a turbodiesel version, shown at Geneva in 1978, entered production in February 1979. The car was a commercial failure: sales fell further after the 505 arrived in 1979. Production ended in November 1985 at 153,252 cars, the figure given by Lancaster Insurance and Autopower, and sales continued until June 1986 according to Lancaster.
