STORY
The Peugeot iOn was announced in September 2009 ahead of its Frankfurt debut as a rebadged Mitsubishi i-MiEV, developed with Mitsubishi and due to be sold in Europe from the end of 2010. The motor made 47 kW (64 PS) and 180 Nm, with a 16 kWh lithium-ion battery under the floor. Peugeot quoted about 130 km on the European standard cycle and a top speed of 130 km/h, with 80 percent charged in about 30 minutes on a fast charger. The cars were built at Mitsubishi's Mizushima plant in Japan. Demand stayed weak: in August 2012 Mitsubishi temporarily halted production for PSA, after fewer than 1,800 iOn and C-Zero cars were sold in Europe in the first half of that year.
