STORY

Plymouth put the Barracuda on sale on 1 April 1964, two weeks ahead of the Ford Mustang, by grafting a huge wraparound fastback window onto the compact Valiant A-body. The first cars were slant-six economy machines, but the 273 Commando V8 and the 1965 Formula S package turned the fastback into a credible sports compact.
