STORY
Chrysler's E platform, a stretched-wheelbase K-car, arrived for 1983 with the Dodge 600 and the Chrysler E-Class. Chrysler dropped the E-Class for 1985, and the same car returned to Chrysler-Plymouth dealers as the Plymouth Caravelle, a name previously used only in Canada. The U.S. Caravelle was essentially identical to the Dodge 600 sedan, which ended production in 1988, and both lines were built as extended K-cars rather than as an all-new design. Plymouth replaced it with the AA-body Acclaim for 1989.
