STORY

Plymouth first used Gran Fury in 1975, renaming its full-size C-body car when the Fury name moved to the smaller Satellite line, and that first run ended with the 1977 model year. The name came back for 1980 on a downsized R-body sedan, which ended in 1981. From 1982 it was an M-body car shared with the Dodge Diplomat and Chrysler Fifth Avenue, usually with a 318 V8 and a three-speed automatic. That version became a fixture in police and taxi fleets, with big-city departments ordering it in bulk. Production of the M-body Gran Fury ran into the 1989 model year, the last for the name.
