Grand Voyager

1987 – 2000

The Plymouth Grand Voyager was the long-wheelbase version of Plymouth's first minivan, sharing Chrysler's front-wheel-drive minivan platform with the Dodge Grand Caravan. It offered extra cargo and passenger room over the standard Voyager and was typically powered by Chrysler's 3.3-liter V6 with a four-speed automatic. Along with its siblings it helped shape the minivan segment in the 1990s. Production ran until the Plymouth brand was retired in 2001.

The Story

Why the Grand Voyager matters

The Grand Voyager was the long-wheelbase version of the Plymouth minivan, added in 1987 with seven inches more wheelbase than the standard Voyager and 14.6 inches more overall length. A Mitsubishi-built 3.0-litre V6, offered only with a three-speed automatic, became available the same year. A 3.3-litre V6 joined the option list for 1990 at 150 hp, and the 1991 model year brought the second-generation van with the same Grand and standard split. The Grand Voyager was built through the 2000 model year, and Plymouth was retired in June 2001, while its Dodge counterpart was the Grand Caravan.
