STORY

The Plymouth Horizon went on sale in 1978 as the twin of the Dodge Omni, a front-drive hatchback. Motor Trend named the Omni and Horizon its Car of the Year for 1978. Early cars used a 1.7-litre Volkswagen four, with Chrysler's own 2.2 an option from 1981, while base cars carried a 1.6 from 1983 to 1986. The Simca Horizon, launched in France in 1978, shared the name and the concept, but the American Horizon was a separate version. Production of the Omni and Horizon ended in 1990.
