STORY

The Plymouth Laser was Plymouth's version of the three-car family built at the Diamond-Star Motors plant in Normal, Illinois, alongside the Mitsubishi Eclipse and the Eagle Talon. It debuted in January 1989 as a 1990 model. At the same option level the three were mechanically identical and differed mainly in wheels, colors, taillights, bumpers and spoilers. The top version was the turbocharged 2.0-liter RS Turbo, rated at roughly 190 to 195 hp depending on the year, and the base engine was a 1.8-liter four. The Laser ended with the 1994 model year, while the Eclipse and Talon moved on to new generations for 1995.
