STORY

The Valiant was introduced in late October 1959 and sold as a 1960 model. Its overhead-valve six sat tilted 30 degrees to the right, which gave the Slant Six its name. The 170 cubic inch version went into the Valiant at launch, and the 225 became available in it in late 1961. The Valiant rode Chrysler's A-body platform, which the Dodge Dart later shared. Plymouth added the Scamp hardtop in 1971, built on the Dart Swinger body. The Valiant ended in 1976, replaced by the Volare.
