STORY
The Reliant was Plymouth's version of Chrysler's K-car, introduced for the 1981 model year alongside the nearly identical Dodge Aries. The pair shared Motor Trend's Car of the Year award for 1981. It was offered as a two-door coupe, a four-door sedan and, to 1988, a wagon, with a 2.2-liter four as the standard engine and a Mitsubishi-built 2.6-liter four as an option, rated at 92 hp on the 1981 to 1983 cars. The K-cars are often credited with helping save Chrysler in the early 1980s. The Reliant was sold through the 1989 model year, when the Plymouth Acclaim replaced it.
