STORY

The Plymouth Sapporo was the US-market version of the Japanese Mitsubishi Galant Lambda hardtop. Chrysler imported it for 1978 with the Dodge Colt Challenger, later simply the Challenger, as its mechanical twin. The American cars used a 2.6-liter Astron four, rated at 105 hp on the 1981 to 1983 models. It gave Dodge and Plymouth dealers a small personal-luxury coupe. Sales continued through the 1983 model year, and Mitsubishi began importing cars under its own badge in the early 1980s.
