STORY

Pontiac launched the Grand Prix for the 1962 model year as a full-size performance coupe. The 1969 car moved to a stretched intermediate chassis, and the 1978 downsized version was about a foot shorter than the 1977 model. The front-drive W-body coupe arrived for 1988, and the 1997 car went into production in 1996, its GTP version with a supercharged 3.8-litre V6 at 240 hp. The last generation was built from 2003 to 2008 at Oshawa, with a 303 hp 5.3-litre V8 in the GXP, and the G8 followed.
