STORY

Pontiac showed the Solstice as a concept at the Detroit show in January 2002, planned around a supercharged 2.2 L Ecotec four. Production began in mid-2005 at Wilmington, Delaware, for the 2006 model year, with a 2.4 L four of 177 hp. The GXP, with a turbocharged 2.0 L making 260 hp, debuted at the 2006 Los Angeles show as a 2007 model. A targa-style coupe was unveiled at the 2008 New York show and went on sale in early 2009. Production at Wilmington ended in July 2009, after 65,724 Solstices had been built, 1,266 of them coupes.
