STORY

Pontiac introduced the T1000 in the spring of 1981 for the United States and Canada. It was a rear-drive subcompact on GM's T platform and shared all of its body stampings with the Chevrolet Chevette, but Pontiac gave it its own chrome centre grille and black-trimmed headlight buckets. The car was renamed simply Pontiac 1000 in 1983. In the United States it ran from 1981 to 1987, while in Canada Pontiac dealers sold it alongside the Acadian from 1981 to 1985. Production in the United States ended after the 1987 model year.
