STORY
The Porsche 99X Electric is the marque's single-seater built for the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship, marking Porsche's return to top-line open-wheel competition when the works TAG Heuer Porsche team debuted for the 2019/20 season. Built around the spec Gen2 and later Gen3 chassis but developed around Porsche's own electric powertrain, it served both the factory squad and customer teams as a rolling test bed for the road-car EV program. After early podiums and its first win in 2021, the car reached its peak in the Gen3 era: Pascal Wehrlein took eight victories in 2024 to become Formula E World Champion, delivering Porsche its first drivers' title in the series. The programme continues with the evolved Gen3 Evo specification as Porsche defends its status among the front-running manufacturers. The 99X Electric stands as the centrepiece of Porsche's electric-motorsport strategy and a direct link between its racing and production EV engineering.
