2022 Porsche Taycan GTS First Drive Review - Does GTS work with EVs?

YouTube

STORY

The Taycan is Porsche's leap into the electric age, and its statement that going electric need not mean giving anything up. Revealed in September 2019 as the company's first series-production EV, it set out to drive like a Porsche first and an electric car second.

Its headline innovation was an 800-volt architecture, the first in a production car, enabling fierce, repeatable performance and rapid charging. Top Turbo and Turbo S versions deliver savage acceleration, and unusually the Taycan uses a two-speed transmission on the rear axle to sharpen both launch and cruising efficiency.

Widely praised for handling that genuinely feels like Porsche's own, the Taycan quickly outsold the 911 in some markets, spawned the rugged Cross Turismo estate, and proved a battery-electric car could carry the crest without apology.
