STORY

Launched in 2000, the Waja (sold as the Impian in some export markets) was Proton's first sedan designed fully in-house, with heavy Lotus engineering input. Early cars used a Mitsubishi 4G18 engine until Proton's own Campro unit was introduced. It marked Proton's transition from rebadging Mitsubishis to building its own cars.
