The Wira was Proton's core model through the 1990s, launched in 1993 as a rebadged Mitsubishi Lancer/Colt in both sedan and hatchback forms. It used Mitsubishi 4G engines, sold in huge numbers at home and was widely exported. Its long production run stretched to 2009, making it a Malaysian staple.
