The X70 was Proton's first SUV and the first product of the Geely partnership, launched in 2018 as a rebadged first-generation Geely Boyue. It was imported from China at first, later assembled locally. It had a Geely 1.8-litre turbo engine, and a 1.5-litre turbo joined it later. Its success revived Proton's sales and confidence after the Geely takeover.
