STORY

The Alliance was AMC's version of the Renault 9, built in Kenosha, Wisconsin, and introduced in September 1982. Motor Trend named it its 1983 Car of the Year; UPI reported the award on 4 January 1983 and described the car as on sale since its September introduction. A 2.0 litre GTA joined in 1987. The Encore hatchback followed a little over a year after the Alliance. Chrysler bought AMC on 9 March 1987, and Alliance production ended on 5 June 1987.
