Renault UK claims 0-62 mph in 6.9 s and 141 mph (227 km/h); kerb weight 1204 kg, 36 kg lighter than the 197. The Gordini 200 / Silverstone GP / Raider / Red Bull cars were trim-and-paint specials on this mechanical package and are deliberately not entered as separate versions.

STORY

The Renault Clio, launched in 1990 to replace the Renault 5, became one of Europe's best-selling superminis and a two-time European Car of the Year winner (1991 and 2006). Across five generations it has spawned celebrated hot hatches, including the Clio Williams, the mid-engined Clio V6, and the Clio RS line tuned by Renault Sport. It remains Renault's most important high-volume model and a benchmark in the B-segment.
