STORY

The Dauphine was Renault's rear-engined saloon, presented at the Palais de Chaillot in Paris on 6 March 1956. The Gordini version was unveiled at the 1957 Paris Motor Show. Outside France it was built under licence, among others by Alfa Romeo in Italy, which built 73,841 cars. French production ended in December 1967, eleven years after the launch at the Palais de Chaillot, and the worldwide total, licence production abroad included, came to 2,150,738 cars.
