STORY

Renault introduced the 18 in 1978 as a family saloon. A diesel joined the range in July 1980, the year the 18 Turbo, with a 1.6-litre engine (1,565 cc), appeared at the Paris Motor Show. By 1984 the Turbo was rated at 125 hp. In France the Renault 21 replaced the 18 in 1986, when French production ended according to Petrolblog, and South American production carried on into the 1990s, long after the French cars had gone.
