STORY

Renault unveiled the 21 at the Geneva show in March 1986 as the successor to the 18. The 2-litre Turbo, with a water-cooled Garrett T3 turbocharger, made 175 hp and, Motor Sport reported in August 1987, was to go on sale in France that September. A four-wheel-drive Quadra version followed, and after a catalytic converter was fitted around 1992 the Turbo dropped to 162 hp. Renault's claim for 0 to 100 km/h was 7.4 seconds. The saloon was replaced by the Laguna in 1994.
