STORY

Renault built the first production 25 in December 1983, and the saloon was presented to the public at the 1984 Geneva Motor Show. Marcello Gandini designed the instrument panel, while the body was drawn by Robert Opron and Marc Deschamps. Spring 1985 brought a long-wheelbase Limousine, 22.7 cm longer between the axles, built with Heuliez for official use; only 832 were made through June 1986. Renault gave the 25 an extensive facelift in June 1988 for the 1989 model year. The top petrol engine, the 2.5-litre V6 Turbo, produced up to 151 kW. About 780,000 cars were built before production ended in 1992 and the Safrane followed.
