STORY
Renault launched the 8 in June 1962 as the successor to the Dauphine, and underneath it was largely a rebodied Dauphine: a rear-engined car with a 956 cc four-cylinder and disc brakes on all four wheels as standard. The sporting 8 Gordini, developed by Amedee Gordini, followed in 1964 and was uprated in 1966, when its engine grew to 1,255 cc. Production in France ended in mid-1972 and sales in 1973. FASA-Renault in Spain kept building the car for the Spanish market until 1976.
