STORY

Renault launched the Safrane in 1992 to replace the 25. The first range ran from 2.0-litre petrol engines to a 3.0 V6 with 170 PS, plus a 2.1 turbodiesel with 90 PS. In 1993 came the Quadra four-wheel-drive version and the twin-turbo 3.0 V6 Biturbo, rated at 262 PS; the Biturbo was sold only until 1996. A facelift in 1996 dropped the Biturbo. Production ended in 2000 after roughly 300,000 cars, though one French site places the end of the Safrane in 2002.
