STORY
The LS1 was the middle sedan of the original Saturn L-series, introduced in May 1999 for the 2000 model year. It shared the LS's 2.2-liter four-cylinder rated at 137 hp and its five-speed manual, with the 3.0-liter V6 reserved for the LS2. For 2001 Saturn renamed the sedans L100, L200 and L300, so the LS1 name appeared on 2000 models only. The line was built in Wilmington, Delaware, got larger headlights and a revised grille in 2003, and finished with sedans alone in the 2005 model year.
